Nicoleta Avgousti is working as an Assistant Headmistress and art teacher in a primary school, and as an Art Advisor and Visual Arts Curriculum Officer at the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute. She is a special scientist at the European University Cyprus, and in the past she taught as a special scientist at the University of Cyprus. She has been involved in advisory work, design of gallery education programmes and teachers’ art resources, teachers' training seminars, and coordination of European programmes. She was the coordinator of the Visual Arts Education Curriculum Development Team. Her doctorate work explored contemporary Cypriot video art and proposed audiovisual resources in the Curriculum framework. She is a practicing visual artist with participations in numerous exhibitions and festivals. Her artistic work investigates social issues through the means of authentic everyday experience, as well as personal identity and memory. Other interests comprice the integration of traditional art techniques with new media, and the artist/researcher/teacher triptych.
