Catarina Sofia Silva Martins, 1980. Degree in Fine Arts - Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto (2003). Master in Arts Education at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon (2007). PhD in Education, Institute of Education, University of Lisbon. FCT Research Fellow (2007-2011). In 2008 and in 2010 she was Honorary Fellow in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction - Faculty of Education, Madison University, working with Thomas S. Popkewitz. In 2009 she was Visiting Scholar at the Center for Educational Sociology, University of Edinburgh, working with Martin Lawn. From October 2010 to January 2013, Catarina Martins was an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto, teaching at a post-graduate levels in Arts Education. From October 2012 until Janueary 2016, she coordinated the field of Arts Education at i2ADS – Institute of Research in Art, Design and Society, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Oporto. Member of the group in History of Education, Institute of Education, University of Lisbon. Since June 2012, she is the Link Convenor of the European Network 29: Research on Arts Education, European Educational Research Association. From January 2013 to the present she is Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Oporto. Since December 2014 she is the Director of i2ADS - Institute of Research in Art, Design and Society.
