RATIONALE & SHORT DESCRIPTIONChoirokoitia Public Primary School is a rural school that operates as a regional, all-day school. There are 6 classes (1st-6th). The 5th and the 6th graders become one group for the purpose of the art lesson due to the low number of students. There is a special room for the Art lesson. In everyday life, students often relate colors, activities and toys to gender, forming gender stereotypes. These stereotypes intensify quip and bulling among children, so breaking these stereotypes through creative art activities could be beneficial for the school and the community. The 5th graders have been visited an exhibition about traditional embroidery and its transformations. Last year the students were inspired by the exhibition and worked on a related project using patterns. During their visit at the exhibition, they were surprised to see that male artists participated too. It was something they didn’t expect...
